Claude

Use Anthropic’s assistant for research, writing, file-based work and coding support.

Claude review: one assistant for research, writing and knowledge work

Claude is Anthropic’s general-purpose assistant for tasks such as researching, drafting, analyzing files and creating editable work. Its appeal is breadth: a user can move from a question to a document or other deliverable in one place. Developers should treat Claude Code as a separate coding workflow, and every user should verify important claims and review generated work.

What can Claude help with?

Claude supports conversational work such as drafting, summarizing, analysis and questions about supplied files. Current product materials also describe web search, connectors, Projects, Artifacts and tasks that can create editable documents, spreadsheets or presentations. Access to individual capabilities depends on the surface, plan and workspace settings, so “Claude” should not be read as one identical feature set for every account (Claude Product Overview).

This breadth can be useful for knowledge workers who start with source material and need to turn it into a brief, comparison or first draft. Projects can keep related context together; connectors can bring approved external information into a workflow; Artifacts provide a place to create and revise certain outputs. The user still needs to decide what context is trustworthy and whether the final result is fit to share.

Is Claude a reliable research source?

Claude can assist with research, but the assistant is not itself the evidence. When it summarizes a report, check the original passage; when it gives a current fact, follow the cited source and confirm the date. Search tools can improve access to current information, yet they do not guarantee complete coverage or a correct interpretation. For consequential decisions, use primary sources and retain the links behind the conclusion.

The same principle applies to generated files and code. Review formulas, citations, numbers and formatting before using a deliverable. In a coding workflow, inspect the proposed diff, run the project’s checks and keep changes within a defined scope.

Claude versus Claude Code

Claude is the general assistant for conversation and knowledge work. Claude Code is Anthropic’s separate tool for software development in a repository, typically through a terminal or supported coding environment. A developer should compare the workflow, permissions, context and billing that apply to the exact setup rather than assuming the consumer chat plan covers every coding use. Claude is worth evaluating when a user needs a flexible assistant and is willing to verify its work. It is a weaker fit when the requirement is guaranteed factual accuracy without human review (Claude Plans; Claude Code).
